Hometown: Rich Hill, Mo.
Tell me about yourself: “I was raised on our family farm and grew up actively involved in 4-H and FFA. I learned many valuable lessons through my leadership roles and activities with Nevada’s FFA Chapter and competed on multiple contest/judging teams,” said Megan. “I am a 2008 graduate of Nevada High School and am currently a senior Animal Science major at the University of Missouri.”
What type of farming are you involved with?
“My dad and grandfather have always farmed together. Our family farming operation, north of Nevada Mo., is diversified with row crops, hay and a couple hundred crossbred cows. I have grown up helping with all aspects of our family farm,” she said.
What special awards have you won in your career?
“I was recently crowned the 2011 Missouri Beef Queen and am looking forward to representing the beef industry throughout the state,” she said.
What are your plans for the future?
Megan plans on graduating MU in May with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science and hopes to attend graduate school to obtain her Masters degree in Ruminant Nutrition, and then hopefully find work within the beef industry.
