Bill Woosley
In Town: Bill has been the manager of Marion County Feed and Farm in Yellville, Ark., for 20 years.
On the farm: Bill maintains cattle, horses and cuts hay.
How does your experience on the farm help at the store?
“The knowledge I have about farming, all types of animals and working with equipment helps me to better understand the needs of my customers. I learned from a very early age how to get by on a farm. I realize now that if you haven’t learned by my age how to get by, you’re probably not going to.”
Does your experience at the store help on the farm?
“Yes. It makes me accept change and understand that we must adjust, as time goes by, if we are going to be successful farmers. At the store, I’m aware of changing drugs, feeds and methods, and apply them on the farm. When you run a business, you must change and stay current, and I apply that to the farm.”
How do you manage both?
“I have wonderful people that work for me, and that makes it easier. The owner of the company is a great boss and he allows me to do both.”
Why do you live in the country and not town?
“It gives me a place to relax and get away from daily stress, and I have a weakness for horses and must have at least one or two to look at.”
