The Weldit Corporation
President: John Mellgren, Plant Manager, Rob Styer
Location: Yellville, Ark.
Company History: Weldit was originally started in 1970 in Louisiana. “In 1983, we bought the company and moved it to Flippin in northern Arkansas. About a year later, we relocated to Yellville into a building we owned. We have grown and expanded into our present facility,” John Mellgren explained.
What do you produce?
“Weldit produces an entirely American-made stop leak product for engines’ cooling systems. If your machine produces heat, pressure and circulation, Weldit will stop the leak. There are endless agricultural uses for the product and it can be easily stored in a tool box or glove compartment for emergencies. We manufacture it under many private labels, but Weldit is our brand name. We produce over 300,000 units a year and ship all over the world.”
What makes your product stand out?
“We are totally manufactured in the United States, with one ingredient coming from Canada. Even our container is made in Little Rock. We provide a good product at a good price. God has blessed us and keeps us in business.”
How many people do you employ?
“We have around eight people: four wonderful young women on the production line, myself and my son-in-law Rob Styer (who keeps everything going) and two part-time workers.”
