Nitron Industries, Inc.
Owner: Frank Finger
Location: Fayetteville, Ark.
Company History: Nitron Industries was founded in 1978 by Frank Finger, who owned and operated a farm in Kansas. Frank hired a Purdue Agronomist to learn how to farm organically. In 1983 he moved the company to Arkansas. It was then that they started a mail order catalog, marketing products targeted to gardening. They shipped their products throughout the United States. They continued to publish a catalog each year until 2005, when increasing costs made this aspect of the business cost-prohibitive. Today the company operates a store front and maintains a website.
Products and Services: Nitron Industries creates fertilizers that are all organic or natural. In addition to maintaining this original product line, many more items have been added so that the total now exceeds 100 products. The flagship product is A-35, an enzyme product that is a result of a fermentation process. Another product is Pasture Magic, which Frank explained is liquid fish, seaweed and a catalyst, A-35. This combination makes for great pasture performance. This year the company introduced their new Tomato Kit product that can yield over 100 lbs. per plant.
Do you manufacture all your own products?
“Almost all Nitron products are formulated and packaged right on the grounds of the Fayetteville store location. Many of the initial ingredients, however, are brought in from out-of-state suppliers. All of the ingredients are natural; no petrochemicals or other synthetic compounds are used.”
