Company History: Feed & More has been in business almost 10 years. “We opened our doors in December of 2000. We operated out of a trailer from June of 2000 till the building was finished. I spent 30 years in the grocery business prior to starting this,” Steve explained.
Products and Services: “We offer a full line of large animal feeds and commodities, from cows to horses to goats – anything livestock. We also have pet foods – dogs and cats to gerbils and coy fish. We also offer a full line of livestock equipment, fencing, Gallagher electric fence. Also we have full lines of animal health and pet health supplies too. Our lawn and garden is a big growing area. We had a lawn and garden seminar this spring. We sold plants for the first time this year and were very happy with how that went. We have Montana Silversmith jewelry, Sabona copper and magnetic bracelets, and we started carrying the Green Egg cookers.”
What sets you apart from the competitors?
“I’m not afraid of the box stores. We often have lower prices than the big box stores. We have good employees here and we focus on customer service. If we don’t know something, we’ll find out. Our employees go to conferences and seminars to learn about our products to better help our customers.”
Any advice for the farmer on animal health?
“Without the proper mineral and proper nutrition the rest of it’s not going to work – your vaccinations and medications. The proper mineral program will cost you from 8 to 10 cents per day for a cow, but you’ll get better reproduction, healthier calves born, when you wean the calves they should have higher weights. Also, the key to making money in the cattle business, and I sell feed, but you have to utilize your grass.”
