Cody Flynn

In Town:  Cody has been practicing law for 10 years. He is a general practice attorney in Ozark, Ark. “I grew up in Charleston and I didn’t want to move. But, I knew that it would be tough to find a job around here in ag. I knew that getting a post-graduate degree would better my chances.” He chose a career in law, and hasn't looked back since.

In the Country:  Farming has always been a big part of Cody’s life. After he graduated from High School he went on to University of Arkansas to get a degree in Ag-Business. “I’ve always been around farming. My grandfathers and uncles all farmed,” he said. Today, Cody and his dad, Mike Flynn, partner on a commercial herd. “We have 25 crossbred cows and a registered Angus bull. I also run stocker cows on the side at some property in Branch. My grandpa and my uncle help us out a lot and we help my grandpa out with his farm. He’s 88, but he still cuts and rakes all his hay."

Family:  Wife, Michele; children, Dylan, 17, and Madelyn, 4. Dylan is good to help in the hayfield, Cody said.

How does your job in town complement work at the farm?
“My job gives me the flexibility that I need to get things done on the farm. In the winter, every night after work, I’m out there feeding. In the summer, I take off to bale hay. I do something farming related every weekend,” he said. What Cody loves the most about farming is the heavy equipment. “I love to get on the tractor and brush hog or bale hay and make a day of it. That’s a good day,” he said with a smile.
