From mums, pumpkins and spiders making webs, to pecan pie, turkey and Thanksgiving joys, to the shopping hustle, holiday parties and Santa Claus, the fall to winter, Halloween to Christmas seasons fly by each year.
On October 1 we began taking recipe submissions for our Country Christmas Cookbook. I am also now taking very short Ozarks Christmas memories, which I especially enjoy paired with a good recipe. Now I’m going to also ask for something else from you. This year I’m taking your suggestions for the featured cooks for the Christmas Cookbook. Every year we feature a few local cooks in each section – appetizers, breads and spreads, side dishes, main dishes and desserts – of the cookbook. So in addition to your favorite recipes and memories, call in, email or mail me the name and a short description of a local country cook who should be featured in our Christmas Cookbook. I want this cookbook chock full of local top chefs, your Ozarks Christmas memories and recipes from you and your friends and neighbors. We’ll try our hardest to make sure we use as many of the submissions as possible, but we’ll only have room for five cook profiles, so be sure and give us a good reason why your favorite cook is a good candidate for the profile. Also, don’t be afraid to nominate yourself.
Thank you so much for sharing your stories, for sharing recipes and notes from your kitchen cookbook, for the pictures of old barns, tractors and more. Ozarks Farm & Neighbor is great because of you, the readers, who give us the best material to work with. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
God Bless,
