Rodeo Competitions: I’ve done barrel racing about five years. I’ve been in competitions four years. I compete in the Ozark Junior Rodeo Association in Arkansas. To be a member of the OJRA, you pay your fees and you have to get $150 worth of sponsors. You have to participate in six rodeos to make it to the finals in Springdale, Ark. I won the 8-and-under all-around competition by winning barrels, poles and goat undecorating (getting a ribbon off a goat’s tail). Barrel racing is my favorite. If I don’t have a rodeo, I practice riding on the weekends and every day in the summer.
Future Rodeo Plans: I would like to make it to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. I think I would like to become a professional barrel racer and a veterinarian.
Cattle: I have nine head of my own. I have four registered Beefmasters and five commercial. Two are cows and the rest are heifers. I like Beefmasters because I’ve been raised with them all my life. That’s what my grandfather raises. My parents and grandparents help me take care of my cattle. I eventually may start showing with the Junior Beefmasters Association. I would like to have 100 or 200 head when I grow up.
If you could do anything in the world, what would it be? Train barrel horses.
