Owners: Kenny and Becky Jordan
Location: Miami, Okla.
History: Kenny always knew he wanted to have his own custom meat processing business and had worked for a local grocery store as head of the meat department for many years. In 2000 Kenny and his wife Becky got the opportunity to purchase M&M Custom Butchering and with just them and one other employee they have grown the business into a thriving custom butchering and retail meat market. They currently employ 10 full time and 3 part time employees which include their 2 children.
They are the fourth owners of M&M Custom Butchering which was started back in the late 60’s by Marvin and Marge Stephens, hence the name M&M.
Products: M&M is a custom slaughter to finish facility offering custom butchering for beef, hogs, lambs and goats. They can cure and smoke meat as well as making summer sausage and breakfast sausage. They also have a retail meat market that offers many specialty items.
“We carry 19 different kinds of brats in our retail store as well as 7 different varieties of beef sticks.” Becky continued, “We also carry cheese, bologna, fresh beef patties, hot dogs, turkey and pies. We do special orders of custom cuts of meat, such as Prime Rib for special occasions. We just celebrated our 25th anniversary and the special for the month is twenty-five pounds of 85/15 ground beef for $100. We also offer other meat bundle specials each month.”
Kenny and Becky just completed a remodel of the store which has doubled the size of the retail space. They carry many unique varieties of seasonings as well as knives and sharpening steels and they plan to add chicken to the retail side in the future.
Their goal is to provide the highest quality custom processing and to provide retail products that are higher quality than the grocery store at a competitive price. They have a longtime crew of employees that are dedicated to the craft of custom butchering.
“Our number one focus is to do everything to the glory of God,” Becky said. “Next is to gain a reputation of integrity, do what we say we are going to do. Do a quality job, do it right and fairly.”
