• 2 1/2 C milk

• 1/4 C cornstarch

• 1 C sugar

• 5 Tbsp cocoa

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 3 egg yolks, beaten

• 2 Tbsp butter

• 1 tsp vanilla

Heat milk in top of double boiler. In separate bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add small amount of milk and beaten egg yolks to dry ingredients. Add to hot milk, still in the double boiler, stirring in with a wire whisk. Stir constantly until thickened. Put lid on and cook 15 to 20 minutes longer. When done, remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Stir well and cool prior to putting in pie crust.
