LINNEUS, Mo. – A one-day workshop, hosted by University of Missouri Extension in Linn County, helps people get out of the dark about growing mushrooms.
The class is 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. May 9 at the MU Forage Systems Research Center (FSRC) at 21262 Genoa Road, Linneus.
MU Extension agronomy specialist Valerie Tate said the class covers how to grow shiitake, oyster and wine cap stropharia mushrooms as a hobby or to sell. Participants learn about setting up growing areas, costs, management and marketing.
The $20 workshop fee includes lunch and an inoculated log to take home. FSRC, MU Extension and the MU Center for Agroforestry sponsor the event.
