Seasoned growers and newbies alike are welcome at this year’s meeting, which will take place April 25 at Cal2homa Christmas Tree Farm just north of Gore, Oklahoma. The agenda calls for a two-hour new growers workshop, lead by Craig McKinley, retired Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension forestry specialist.
“Over the years, we have seen a slight drop in Christmas tree farms in Oklahoma. Hopefully, we are at the end of that decline and are now on the uptick,” McKinley said. “This meeting, specifically the morning activities, is going to be full of helpful information for anyone interested in Christmas tree farming.”
Registration for the meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the farm, three miles north of Gore on state highway 10. From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., attendees will participate in the new growers workshop before going on a tour of Cal2homa.
“The tour should be really fun and educational,” McKinley said. “People attending the meeting will get a first hand look at the operation of a real Christmas tree farm.”
