MEXICO, Mo. – Six new signs welcome visitors to Audrain County.
The Audrain County University of Missouri Extension Council wants to welcome drivers entering the county and remind them of the many services MU Extension offers in the state’s 114 counties.
Audrain County program director Virgil Woolridge said council members worked with members of Community R-VI school district FFA, Missouri Soybean Association, Audrain Cattlemen’s Association, Merry Martins 4-H Club, Mexico Public Schools FFA and Missouri Pork Association to help sponsor the signs.
Bill Kessler, a former extension council member, said the council felt it was important to remind those entering the county of extension’s many services. He said MU Extension and Audrain’s agriculture groups work together in this rural county to improve the lives of its citizens.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials gave approval for placing the signs upon right-of-way property of individuals owning land as you enter Audrain County. When the project is complete, signs will be placed on all major highways into Audrain County. Extension council members contracted with Mid MO Signs, an Audrain County company, to make the signs.
