The Student Union Marketing Department earned two awards while representing Oklahoma State University at the annual Association of College Unions International (ACUI) conference held recently in Orlando, Fla.
Kassidy Conway, senior graphic designer, took home first place honors in the calendars and schedules category for her 2013-2014 Mortar Board cover. Mauresa Hankinson, student graphic designer, placed third in the T-shirt design category for her Camp Cowboy
“Respect the ‘Stache” design. The annual Steal This Idea competition recognizes excellence in college union and student activity marketing materials. Entries are judged based on strength of concept, design, editorial content and effectiveness.
The winning OSU entries were displayed at the 94th annual ACUI conference held April 6-10. This is the sixth consecutive year the Student Union Marketing Department has been honored with at least one award in the competition.
Hankinson has worked in the Student Union Marketing Department for almost two years and has gained real-world experience that will benefit her when she graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design degree in December.
“My job is different every day and I get to work with a lot of wonderful people who represent so many different high-profile organizations at OSU, including Camp Cowboy and more than 500 other student organizations,” Hankinson said. “The fact that as a student employee I have the opportunity to build my professional portfolio and see my designs across campus is just a bonus.”
Founded in 1914, ACUI is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activity professionals from more than 550 schools in 34 countries. Its members work on urban and rural campuses, in two-year and four-year institutions, and at large and small schools. For more information about ACUI, visit acui.org.
