The Veterinary Information Network’s VIN Foundation recently ranked the 31 veterinary colleges in the United States and Caribbean placing Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences number one as the most affordable veterinary college for in-state residents.
The report takes into consideration living expenses when calculating the tuition costs for both in-state and out-of-state residents. Overall, Oklahoma State is a top buy, ranking #1 for in-state and #6 for out-of-state residents seeking a DVM degree.
“We have worked very hard for many years to be able to deliver a high-quality, affordable veterinary education,” says Dr. Chris Ross, associate dean for academic affairs at the veterinary center. “Our graduates are recognized as having excellent entry-level skill sets when they take the next step in their careers after graduation. There is a great deal of concern over the amount of debt that new veterinarians have to manage, and our graduates earn above-average starting salaries after having accumulated student loans that are well below the national average.”
Located on the west side of the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, the veterinary center has graduated nearly 3,600 veterinarians since it was established in 1948. These alumni have brought great recognition to the university, serving many important roles in the veterinary medical profession including private practitioners, ground-breaking researchers, decorated military personnel and award-winning faculty members at OSU and across the nation.
