Ozark Mountain Creamery Cream to be Removed from Store Shelves

The State Milk Board, in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, announced today that Ozark Mountain Creamery of Mountain Grove, Mo. is voluntarily recalling some of its cream from the marketplace.

Test results received today, June 21, were positive for high residual phosphatase. High levels of residual phosphatase may indicate potentially unpasteurized or improperly pasteurized milk, which can contain harmful pathogens. The sample was collected June 7 during a randomly scheduled, routine inspection and tested in the St. Louis County Health Department Laboratory.

The 90 gallons of recalled cream is packaged in one-half gallon, glass bottles and marked with the code ‘6/28.’ An additional 57 gallons of cream packaged in one-half gallon, glass bottles and marked with the code ‘7/05′ is being voluntarily withdrawn pending further testing. No other dairy products from Ozark Mountain Creamery are involved at this time.

• Sidney St. Café (restaurant) in St. Louis
• Vanbuskirk Chocolate in St. Louis
• Local Harvest (restaurant) in St. Louis
• The Root Cellar in Columbia, Mo.
• Clover’s Natural Foods in Columbia, Mo.
• BK Bakery in Jefferson City, Mo.
• Paul’s Supermarket in Osage Beach, Mo.
• Jean’s Healthway in Ava, Mo.
• Homegrown Foods in Springfield, Mo.
• Amish Country Store in Branson, Mo.
• Shetler’s Wholesale in Cabool and Mountain Grove, Mo.
• MaMa Jean’s Markets on Republic Road, Campbell and Sunshine in Springfield, Mo.
• Schnucks in Columbia, Eureka, Jefferson City and Washington, Mo.
• Hyvee in Jefferson City and Springfield, Mo.

The Missouri State Milk Board continues to review the company’s records to determine when consumers may have purchased the product. Anyone who has purchased the cream may return the unused portion to the store from which they purchased the product.
