COLUMBIA, Mo. – Jared Day of Pilot Grove was elected president of Missouri 4-H. His election was announced at the conclusion of the recent annual State 4-H Congress.
More than 275 members of 4-H and adult advisers from across the state attended the “Wild Wild West” State 4-H Congress held in Columbia May 29-31. “Learnshops” and social activities were held throughout the event, with 1994 National Championship University of Nebraska football team member Aaron Davis giving the keynote address on “The Power of Your Choices.”
Day is a member of Clear Creek 4-H Club in Cooper County and has received numerous awards. He also has served as president of the 4 C’s in Cooper County and served most recently as West Central representative for 4-H’s state council. He has been involved in photography, horsemanship, rabbits, arts and crafts, hams and welding during his 10 years in 4-H.
Additionally, he has served as a class officer and is a member of National Honor Society, FFA and FBLA. He plans to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia. He is the son of Steve and Denise Lay.
Day succeeds Dustin Oehl of Friedham, Mo.
Josh Huber, who served as Southeast Regional Representative on the state council, was elected vice president. “The things we as united 4-H’ers do are truly remarkable and I believe we have the right to be very proud,” he said. Huber has served as president of his 4-H club in Perry County. Huber is the son of Marianne and Keith Huber.
Clay Schmidli, a member of the Putnam County Sunshine Kids 4-H Club, was selected treasurer of the state council. He recently completed his freshman year at Ozarks Technical Community College in Springfield. He is the son of Melissa and Michael Schmidli.
Katie Pennell of Mt. Comfort 4-H Club in Lawrence County was named secretary of the council. She has been president of her county club for two years and also served as Southwest Regional Representative. She plans to attend the University of Missouri at Columbia. She is the daughter of KayLynn and Gary Pennell.
