Lebanon Livestock Auction
Owner: Andy and Lisa Stubblefield and Skip Thompson
Location: Lebanon, Mo.
New Owners: “We’ve owned the Lebanon Livestock Auction since May 2011,” Andy Stubblefield explained, “my wife, Lisa and I and her father, Skip Thompson. I’ve been in farm work and ran cattle in the past so I saw this as a really good opportunity.”
Services Offered: “We’re working to establish a good local barn and help people market their cattle in such a way so they get the most from their investment. We want to establish a barn with a consistent market, week-in and week-out. With rising fuel costs, we can help by providing a shorter haul, competitive commission rates and minimum shrinkage, which puts most money back in the farmer’s pocket. We can also arrange pick up and hauling cattle, if needed. As owners of the auction, Skip and I are also both willing to come to the farm and appraise the cattle personally. That’s the kind of specialized one-on-one service we provide.”
Current Plans: “We’re interested in providing service in Laclede County but also to the surrounding counties so we don’t stop at the county line. Our location, right on Interstate 44 is a real advantage,” Andy said.
“We’re here to help and we want folks to feel good about using a local barn,” Lisa added. “We want to know people’s opinions to make this service better for everyone.”
Future Plans: “Since the first of the year, we’ve established a website with a market report. We’d also like to get into specialized sales, like incorporating pre-vaccinated sales into our schedule. We feel like we’re already building a strong competitive market and we want that to be based on long-term business relationships.”
