Name:  Taylor McDonald, 16
Parents:  Charlie and Shanna McDonald, and Amy and William Wilbanks
Grade:  Junior
School:  Ava High School
FFA Advisor:  Tiffany Kauffman

Why did you become an FFA member?
“I think I joined because it’s been in my family for a long time. I’m currently Co-Vice President of my chapter.”

SAE:  “I raise rodeo stock; bulls and horses. My family is stock contractors. My dad brings bulls for rodeos and other events, and it was something easy that I knew I could do and be able to have the finances to do.”

Career Development Events:  “Livestock Judging. It’s my second year in that. We’re pretty good, I think. We might make it to state.”

Future Plans:  “I want to get my English major and a minor in animal science. I’ve looked at a bunch of colleges. I like William Woods because they have a really good equine program and that’s kind of my thing.”

Why do you think farming is important?
“It is important because it feeds everybody. People don’t realize that everything we eat comes from a farm.”

Why would you recommend FFA to other students?
“It’s a lot of fun. You get to miss out on a few days of school, just a few. You meet a lot of new people. It’s so much fun. You learn so many things, and our teachers are awesome.”
