In Town: I am a group leader at 3M manufacturing in Nevada, Mo. My department makes car wraps and printable films that companies use for advertising.

In the Country: Our family runs a commercial cow/calf operation on 320 acres. Our cows are Red and Black Angus based that originated from my grandparents Holstein/Hereford cattle they started the farm with back in the 1960’s. We market our calves at weaning at MoKan Livestock marker in Butler, Mo. We mostly raise our own replacement females. Our goals are to produce calves that are born unassisted and wean at 500+ pounds on grass or hay/creep feed depending on the time of the year. We buy bulls that have a good mix of low birth weights, high maternal traits, and carcass traits. We want to be able to keep our best heifers so they can raise those low-birth-weight calves to maximize weaning weight. We also want the calves we sell to do well for our buyers at the feedlots.

I enjoy continuing the family tradition of raising cattle and improving on our herd each year.
