Hometown: Quitman, Arkansas
County: Cleburne
Family members: Lance, Oran and Carson Wright
In Town: I am a court reporter for the State of Arkansas. I travel through five counties with a judge and keep the record of the proceedings.
In the Country: We have a cow/calf operation and run predominantly Beefmasters. We still have a few commercials. I can’t let go of my commercials because when you put a Beefmaster bull on them, they produce outstanding calves. I am a third generation Beefmaster breeder, and my two boys are carrying on as fourth. They are also the fifth generation to farm on my husband’s family land. We are members of a Beefmaster promotion group and various satelite associations, and this is where we sell our registered Beefmasters.
What do you enjoy most about being a farmer/rancher?
The thing I enjoy most about farming is getting to do it all with my family. My husband and I have two boys, 15 and 12. Our oldest, Oran, sells USDA inspected beef by the pound. He started Wright Choice Beef when he was 13. Carson, our 12-year-old, loves to show his Beefmasters. Any money he makes he starts looking for his next cattle purchase.
