Manager: Brandon Overshon

History: Owner Chris Black started in the fertilizer business by purchasing Richland Plant Food, located in Richland, Mo., in 2014.

The opportunity arose to expand in January 2019, when the building that was formerly MFA in Crocker, Mo., went up for sale. Chris took the opportunity and purchased the building, converting it into the small-town business that is now Tri-County Seed & Fertilizer, a natural expansion on the original services offered at Richland Plant Food.

Products & Services: Tri-County boasts a full line of dry fertilizer for agricultural needs: chemicals, seed and custom application. The majority of their customers are local producers, seeking to meet their crops’ nutritional needs.

Much of the stock carried and sold is dry bulk fertilizer. Tri-County Seed & Fertilizer offers delivery and unloading services for their customers. Additionally, spreading services, via buggies is available for all products. They are also able to spread lime and pelletized lime on-farm.

Tri-County also carries chemicals and herbicides for farm use, which help farmers with weed and pest control in a variety of brands and application levels. For smaller scale producers, they offer products which are not sold in bulk. On top of that, they offer soil testing to help farmers plan for the years ahead and choose their desired fertilizer application for upcoming crops. For future purchases, they offer pre-pay options, to help give farmers a head start. Additionally, they offer bagged grass seed for pastures, and other seed products to help with food plots.

Business Philosophy: As a small business, manager Brandon Overshon said their philosophy is straightforward.

“Hometown service, customer service is our main priority.”
