Hometown: Norfork, Ark.

Family: Husband Jason, son Tanner and daughter Maggie

In Town: “I am the Baxter County Extension 4-H agent. My job is to get kids of all abilities, ages 5 to 19, involved in community service, leadership and agriculture. Then I support them in their endeavors while helping them have new experiences they may not have had before.”

In the Country: “My husband and I run a small cow/calf operation on the land that has been owned by my family since 1960. We also have goats to help clear pastures and a flock of free-range chickens.  We previously raised meat rabbits, Kune Kune pigs and Coturnix quail. We sell our eggs locally to friends and neighbors. I have a dream to sell our beef directly off our farm, but we are not quite there yet. We raise black Angus and have four registered American British White Park cows.”

What do you enjoy most about being a farmer or rancher?

“I enjoy being outside with my animals. I like working with my hands and taking pride in our livestock. Even on the chaotic days when something gets out, there’s something new to learn.”
