To address some of the questions in their minds and talk all things woodlands, the Oklahoma Woodland Owners Association is partnering up with Oklahoma State University and the Oklahoma Forestry Services to host a meeting.
The OWOA annual meeting will feature discussions on the current state of forestry in the state, timber sales, recent Environmental Protection Agency rules and legislative items of interest.
“The meeting is centered around current and future issues that Oklahoma woodland owners will be faced with in their property management objectives,” said Craig McKinley, retired OSU Cooperative Extension forestry specialist and OWOA president. “We hope both members and nonmembers attend the meeting as there will be information pertinent to everyone.”
The meeting will serve as the last for McKinley in his role as president. A new leader will be elected, along with board members.
“I’ve had an enjoyable experience as president of the association and I look forward to seeing where the next president will take us,” he said.
Slated Sept. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the meeting will be at the Kerr Center, four miles southwest of Poteau, Oklahoma at 24456 Kerr Road. A $15 registration fee for OWOA members and their spouses ($20 for nonmembers) will provide coffee, doughnuts, soft drinks, water, cookies and a catered meal for lunch.
RSVP to McKinley at [email protected].
