“The workshop provides an ideal opportunity for forest landowners to increase their knowledge regarding forest management,” said Craig McKinley, retired Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension forestry specialist. “There also will be discussions centered around endangered species and forest stewardship.”
Information about the Biomass Crop Assistance Program also will be presented.
The event will include speakers from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife, Farm Services Agency, Huber Resources Corp, Oklahoma Forestry Services and German Pellets Louisiana, LLC.
“We have a great panel of presenters from many different agencies to ensure we get all our bases covered,” McKinley said. “This workshop will be very beneficial to any forest landowner in Oklahoma.”
The workshop will conclude with a field trip.
The June 27 workshop will take place at the Kiamichi Forest Research Station, which is located on Highway 3, about 2 miles east of the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 259. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the workshop will end at 3 p.m.
The event is free for Oklahoma Woodland Owner Association members and their spouses/significant others. Anyone else interested in forest management can register for $5. Registration is requested by June 15. The fee will provide coffee, doughnuts, soft drinks, water, cookies and a catered meal for lunch.
