COLUMBIA, Mo.– University of Missouri Extension is offering educational programs throughout the state on energy efficiency and alternative energy for the home, farm and small business.
“By attending one of the programs and implementing practices discussed, you can be guaranteed a no-risk return on your investment,” says Don Day, MU Extension energy specialist. “The returns depend on the practices adopted as a result of the program, but can often reach 30 percent or more.”
Participants will find out how to improve energy efficiency and learn about alternative energy sources such as solar, wind, anaerobic digestion and others. Topics for homeowners and businesses include insulation and cooling options, information on lighting, sealing and storm windows, and many energy saving ideas. Farm energy topics include saving energy in shops and poultry and dairy operations, and energy efficiency for farm water systems.
Day says participants will learn how some energy-efficiency measures are installed through hands-on exercises and will receive a kit of energy-saving samples to take home and install. Some sessions will include tours to show examples of energy-saving measures.
