Renter’s Fair offers students renting resources
Lease signing season will soon be under way, and the Renter’s Fair on Wednesday, Feb. 26 is prepared to help students through the renting process.
The Renter’s Fair, hosted by the Off-Campus Student Association (OCSA), gives students the opportunity to visit with close to 30 landlords and apartment complexes in Stillwater. The fair will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Legal Aid Services and the Stillwater Housing Authority will also be in attendance to answer student questions. The City of Stillwater will be answering questions about utilities and recycling.
Students who attend the Renter’s Fair will also have the chance to win door prizes, including an iPad Mini, PlayStation 3, GoPro camera, Nike Fuel Band and gift cards from Lowe’s and Walmart.
Megan Fletcher, graduate teaching assistant and Renter’s Fair coordinator, said OSCA and the Renter’s Fair are great resources for student renters.
“The point of the Renter’s Fair is that if you don’t have a good idea of where you want to live you can look at all sorts of options,” Fletcher said. “Some people may not know if they want an apartment or a house. After attending the Renter’s Fair they can make that decision a little bit better.”
OCSA is always available to answer questions about leases, landlords, living off campus for the first time or finding rental properties. OCSA can also help students review their leases and decipher important details.
The OCSA is an organization for students who attend Oklahoma State University and live in a residence off the campus. It offers renting/leasing information for all students while members contribute recommendations to better the environment around the city of Stillwater and the OSU campus.
