Oklahoma State University students and employees are invited to participate in OSU’s first 24-hour mobile application contest Feb. 21-22 in the OSU Student Union. AAA Oklahoma; AAA Club Partners (ACP); and Cowboy Technologies are teaming up with the App Center at OSU to sponsor the competition.

Hack Day encourages students and employees to showcase their creativity and generate ideas based on the contest theme, which will be unveiled at the beginning of the contest. Participants can work individually or on a team of up to five members. The contest will provide participants an opportunity to network with other developers and industry leaders within Oklahoma’s technology sector.

Neal Krueger, CEO of AAA Oklahoma, believes the partnership with the OSU App Center allows them to reach out to students and allow participation in expanding their business.

“It’s our desire to encourage creativity and generate innovation with our next generation of members,” Krueger said. “These App Center competitions go a long way toward helping us achieve that goal.”

Teams will spend the 24 hours brainstorming, prototyping and building an iOS app and pitch their concepts to a panel of judges. Following those presentations, the top three teams chosen will receive cash prizes. First, second and third place winners will receive $3,000, $1,500 and $500 respectively. Complimentary food and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.

Registration ends Feb. 20 and is limited to 125 people. For more information and to register for the event, visit http://www.osuappcenter.com/overviewaaahackday.
