OSU alumni, students and parents helped prepare more than 19,000 meals for hungry Texans prior to the Cotton Bowl game. The OSU volunteers worked alongside Missouri fans in the pre-game project at the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas.
The effort began with a morning training session followed by assembly lines of volunteers sacking food for local distribution. “It was great to see the fans from both teams working together for such a good cause,” said Joyce Montgomery, coordinator of OSU’s Service-Learning Volunteer Center.
KFOR TV in Oklahoma City provided coverage of the project, which included periodic cheers from one set of fans and then the other. OSU fans have joined in similar volunteer efforts in the past few years at the Alamo and Fiesta Bowls.
