COLUMBIA, Mo. – History buffs can study Abraham Lincoln during a four-week course from the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Missouri.
Bill Carney, adjunct history professor at Columbia College, will lead students in a discussion of Lincoln’s life, including his views on slavery and secession and how his consistent vision carried him through the turmoil of the Civil War.
This course, which discusses Lincoln’s legacy, communication methods, gifts as a writer and relations with prominent contemporaries, is a fitting complement to the ongoing 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
The weekly classes meet 1:30-3 p.m., Jan. 22 to Feb. 12, in the Moss Building, 1405 Hillcrest Drive, at the Waters-Moss Memorial Wildlife Area.
