The country’s best young dancers will come together to perform as Ailey II, an innovative dance troupe known for its energetic and passionate performances, on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
Ailey II combines the very best students of The Ailey School, founded by Alvin Alley, which flourished under the direction of Sylvia Waters. With new Artistic Director Troy Powell at the helm, Ailey II continues to thrive as he brings a fresh dimension to this beloved company.
In addition to touring, wide-ranging community outreach programs are part of the Ailey II project. The company will host a workshop for five local dancers who were chosen to attend the workshop by area dance studios. The workshop will be held at the Encore Dance Studio on Oct. 14.
Ailey II is presented as part of an annual series sponsored by OSU Allied Arts. Tickets are $8 for OSU students and children twelve and under. All other tickets are $15. For more information or to purchase by phone call 405-744-7509 or stop by the OSU Allied Arts office at 058 Student Union. Tickets are also available at www.alliedarts.okstate.edu.
