BRANSON, Mo.– The third annual FilmFest 4-H, Aug. 4-7, is serving up a double helping of the Haygoods, one of the most popular performing families in Branson.
The musical siblings will conduct a workshop taking attendees behind the scenes of their RFD-TV reality/music show, “The Adventures of the Haygoods,” then festivalgoers will head to the theater to enjoy a live performance.
The Haygood family is known for high energy and tight harmonies. Ranging in age from 17 to 35, the Haygood family includes seven boys—Timothy, Patrick, Dominic, Shawn, Michael, Matthew and Aaron—and one girl, Catherine. Over the last 20 years the Haygoods have performed in Branson for more than 5 million people.
“The Adventures of The Haygoods” includes live music performances and adventures in and around the Ozark Mountains. These adventures include caving, flying airplanes, riding ATVs, and overnight camping trips around the lakes, creeks and valleys of the Ozarks.
The FilmFest workshops are designed to help young filmmakers immediately improve their skills. There are opportunities to visit one-on-one with the presenters, plus the rare chance to compare filmmaking notes from other 4-H’ers around the country.
FilmFest 4-H began in 2011 under the guidance of Missouri 4-H, which is part of University of Missouri Extension. It was created to provide a forum for a growing number of young filmmakers to show their work, and learn from professionals in the film industry. Last year, 4-H filmmakers from 11 states came to Branson for the festival and learned about directing, editing, casting, music rights, wildlife videography and documentary production.
The festival is composed of workshops and screenings of films submitted by 4-H members.
Branson, home of the national FilmFest 4-H, is known as the Live Entertainment Capital of the United States, with more than 100 theaters and 55,000 theater seats. It’s located on Table Rock Lake in the beautiful Ozark Mountains of southwestern Missouri, and is annually ranked as one of the top family vacation destinations in America. The festival package includes a night at one of the great live shows.
