What is your current involvement in agriculture?
“I just love being with my animals. I’ve learned so much because caring for them helps develop responsibility. I won an award with my chickens but now my life centers around horses. Each has a different personality and requires a different approach.”
What is your favorite possession?
“My Bible is my favorite possession because it’s my sword or weapon against anything that comes against me.”
What is your favorite agricultural memory?
“When I was representing my title as Miss Rodeo Old Fort Days Junior Queen, my Quarter Horse, Ruby, decided to come out bucking like a bronco on a 90-point ride. She never did quit, but I got my job done.”
Awards: “I am the current Miss Rodeo Arkansas Teen, a broad-based competition which includes speech, horsemanship and personal interviews, as well as, rodeo and force knowledge. What made the award meaningful to me was that I won not only the overall competition but each individual event.”
Future plans: “I want to go to the University of Arkansas to get a masters degree in speech pathology because I believe special needs children need more chances than they are given.”
Advice to younger students: “My advice to someone younger who is interested in competition is not to stop if you don’t win. You have to be dedicated and work hard, after all it is a competition and you are judged.”
