What is your history as a veterinarian?
“I’ve known I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 5 years old. There were a couple of times in my teenage years and when I was in college when I almost changed my mind to teaching. But I decided that I could be a veterinarian and teach, but I couldn’t be a teacher and be a veterinarian. I attended the University of Oklahoma at Stillwell. Immediately after graduation, I got this job, so I’ve been here four years now.”
What products and services do you provide?
All Creatures has been in business since 1995. “We provide treatment for large and small animals. We do anything from routine vaccinations to surgery. The only official thing we don’t treat is monkeys. We treat all animals, large and small, including ferrets, chickens, chinchillas, snakes and guinea pigs. We even have a customer who has a zebra. With small animals, we work with anything from the reproductive side to diabetes and kidney failure – all those things affect the small animal world, just like they do people. There are many similarities in people medicine and animal medicine.”
“Our surgeries include routine spays and neuters. We also do bone surgeries and knee surgeries. Another service we provide is autopsies to see why an animal died. And we also offer emergency services after hours.”
“Most of us will do anything, but we have our preferences and niches that we prefer. I enjoy doing the large animals, the cattle. One of our doctors is trained for ultrasound, and another prefers small animals.”
