Owner: Rodney Kropf
Location: Buffalo and Lebanon, Mo.
History: Rodney Kropf, owner of Kropf Feeds and Ozark Organics has been in the feed industry since 1983. “We are located out here in the country, just outside Buffalo, in the heart of the Mennonite community,” stated Rodney.
About Kropf Feeds: Kropf Feeds is a full-line commercial feed dealer for Powell, Kent and Crescent in both Buffalo and Lebanon. They offer bag and liquid feed for all types of livestock. Kropf offers their customers delivery on bag, bulk and liquid feeds. “Bag delivery is a new concept for us,” stated Rodney.
About Ozark Organics: Ozark Organics has been in business since September 2011 producing feed for organic laying chickens. They buy organically grown corn, soybean and wheat from local producers and producers in surrounding states.
Then they process the grain, mix it and sell it. Currently Ozark Organics delivers in bulk to customers in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
“In order for the grain to be organic no chemicals or commercial fertilizer can be used three years prior to harvest,” explained Rodney.
Getting started in organics: “I have a cousin in Illinois who is involved with organic chickens and he shared the concept with me. We had to go through a lot of certifications and jump through a lot of hoops to become certified. It took several months but now we are certified under both federal and state laws,” said Rodney.
