Name: Zach Mason of Carthage, Mo.
Tell us about yourself: “I graduated from Carthage High School in 2007,” said Zach. “I wasn’t in FFA or 4-H and really regret that now.”
How are you involved in agriculture?
Even though Zach doesn’t live on a farm, he spends all day, every day, around agriculture and agricultural items at his job at Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply in Carthage. He has worked there for the last 7 years and is currently working in customer assistance. He really enjoys his job and everything related to it. “It’s a great atmosphere; I like to work outside, and it feels good to come home at night and feel like I’ve done a hard days work.” His father Roy has worked at Race Brothers for 30 years and is the store manager. His work ethic is a great example for Zach. Roy worked his way up from an entry level position to the store manager, and Zach hopes to be able to work his way up at the store as well.
What do you do outside of work?
Zach keeps himself busy by working on his grandmother’s 13-acre farm east of Carthage. He helps her out by doing lots of work around the farm. He cleans up the pasture and does all the every day jobs like brush hogging and general maintenance to keep everything in top shape. He also spends a lot of time working with his two horses.
