It’s been a pretty good summer, all things considered. I know some of you are wishing you would have had the rainstorms others of us have, though. I hope it rains on all of us again, soon. For the most part, though, I’m still seeing pastures that look pretty good, and I’ve passed some soybeans and corn that look great.
I hope you went out to see the exhibitors at the Ozark Empire Fair this year, as well. Most of the fair days were hot, humid and sunny this year, but attending the livestock shows sure is a great way to support local youth in agriculture. Check out our special fair results insert this issue for listings of the winners in the livestock shows from the Ozark Empire Fair. You can find it in the center of the paper.
As school starts back, I’ll encourage you again to become involved with your local FFA or 4-H booster and alumni clubs, if you aren’t already. As farmers and agriculturists, we work so hard to advance our industry, but let’s not forget the future of our industry. Those kids have worked hard this summer, especially the ones who’ve been at shows all over the state, or the ones who maybe don’t show, but sure do work hard at the farm in the summers. Taking time to be involved with your local 4-H or FFA chapter can be a very rewarding experience. The 4-H and FFA puts out some of the best kids. I hope you’ll consider our industry’s future, and continue supporting or begin supporting your local 4-H and FFA.
God Bless,
“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”
