State FFA Convention April 16-17 Regional Highlights
New State Officers: Jordan Taylor, Greenfield, Kelsie Young, Aurora, Paige Jenkins, Pleasant Hope, Elizabeth Coffelt, Branson and Brendon Wilson, West Plains were named State FFA Vice Presidents.
Honorary State Degree Recipients: Dr. Gary and Susan Webb, Springfield, Mo., both ag education professors at Missouri State University, and Dr. Tony R. Rickard, University of Missouri Extension dairy specialist in southwest Missouri.
Proficiency Award Winners: Jared Snider, Aurora FFA, won the Beef Production Placement Award. Ben Logan, Miller FFA, won the Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship and Placement Award. Chris Rexrode, Willow Springs FFA, won the Home and Community Development Award. Tiffany James, Pleasant Hope FFA, won the Dairy Production Entrepreneurship Award. Cory Baker, Sarcoxie FFA, won the Dairy Production Placement Award. Brice Holloway, McDonald Co. FFA, won the Turf Grass Management Award. Cheyenne Shipps, Fair Play FFA, won the Equine Science Award. Alex Benson, Pleasant Hope FFA, won the Floriculture Entrepreneurship and Placement Award. Jacob Pierce, McDonald Co. FFA, won the Forage Production Entrepreneurship and Placement Award. Tyler Choate, Pleasant Hope FFA, won the Poultry Production Award. Alicia Martin, Norwood FFA, won the Specialty Crop Production Award. James D. Moore, Sheldon FFA, won the Swine Production Placement Award, Lindsey Lehman, Bolivar FFA, and Josh Orr, Carthage FFA, won the Vegetable Production Award.
Stars in Agribusiness, Star Farmers: Daniel Wosoba, El Dorado Springs FFA, was named State Star in Agribusiness. Jared Andrews, Miller FFA, named Area 9 Star Farmer. Ryan Gettle, Pleasant Hope FFA, named Area 10 Star Farmer. Jacob Pierce, McDonald Co. FFA, named Area 11 Star Farmer. Alexis Jennings, Ozark FFA, named Area 12 Star Farmer. Jessica Stokes, Norwood FFA, named Area 13 Star Farmer. J.R. Simpkins, Stockton FFA, named Area 10 Star in Agribusiness. Brice Holloway, McDonald Co. FFA, named Area 11 Star in Agribusiness. Nathan Porter, Ava FFA, named Area 12 Star in Agribusiness.
Public Speaking Winners: Emily Whitmarsh, Miller FFA, won first in the Advanced Prepared Public Speaking Contest. Courtney Spencer, Aurora FFA, won first in the Division I Prepared Public Speaking Contest.
Career Development Event Contest Winners: Buffalo Dairy Cattle Team Places First; team members are Seth Autry, Nathan Brown, Katie Gronniger and Brandon Jackson. Aurora Knowledge Team Places First, team members are Liz Brechbuhler, Lucus Guthrie, Ashlee Jones and Courtney Spencer. Fair Play Dairy Foods Team Places First, team members are Caleb Whaley, Jacob Wallen, Mason Gjerde and Cody Rash. Hermitage Entomology Team Places First, team members are Dalton Mullins, Mercedes Defreece, Bob Admire and Stephani Howard. Miller Soils Team Places First, team members are Sarah Blevins, Garrett Jester, Leeanna Garringer and Rhen Garner.
Career Development Event Individual Winners: Jason Burkhart, Bradleyville FFA, placed first out of 176 in the Soils contest. Ryan Meeks, Stockton FFA, placed first out of 148 in the Nursery/Landscaping contest. Justin Bennett, Mt. Vernon FFA, placed first out of 144 in the Forestry contest.
