Haste and Rhonda Pritchett

In Town:  Rhonda said, “I am the Adair County Assessor. My job is to value the land and the improvements such as houses and barns. Our information is then transferred by computer to the Treasurer’s office. My husband works cattle at the Stilwell Auction, a locally owned business.”

In the Country:  Rhonda continued, “We live on a 600 acre ranch in Stilwell, Okla., and have two herds, one of 40 commercial momma cows and the other is 40 head of foundation bred Quarter Horses. We sell a few horses when someone wants one and will pay a fair price. Once in a while we will give a filly to someone in 4-H to raise and show. All our family has ridden since they could sit up. We have two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. They all live right around us and keep show animals for 4-H on their own places.”

Lifestyle:  Rhonda concluded, “We raise our own food with a big garden. I can and freeze some of what we grow. We also have our own beef, hogs chickens and eggs. We don’t have dairy because we don’t have the time. We were raised to be self-sufficient and have carried on that tradition, as do our children.”
